Seattle Sounders 0 v 2 Chelsea FC- Seattle Sounders Match Report
It took 19 year old Sturridge just 11 minutes to score his first Chelsea goal as he was found in space by Malouda and calmly curled the ball home low past ex-Spurs keeper Kasey Keller. Deco had an impressive first half despite speculation that he's no longer wanted, setting up both Anelka and Sturridge for chances. Seattle big name Freddie Ljungberg also played well running at the slightly nervous Chelsea defence, hitting a free kick and a deflected shot which each forced Cech into good saves. However Chelsea went 2-0 up in the first half with a quality move that saw Bosingwa and the two strikers combine to pull the ball square into the box for Lampard to coolly finish.
Di Santo had a frustrated but promising night, coming close a couple of times, with Mikel and Shevchenko also having late chances. Carvalho looked back to good fitness and it's no wonder Chelsea seem to be wanting more to hang onto him, especially with Man City still sniffing around John Terry. A very poor performance from Hilario despite the clean-sheet would seem to have moved him below newly signed Englishman Ross Turnbull in the race to become Chelsea's reserve goalkeeper for next season, with Hilario flapping at crosses and kicking poorly when he had little else to do.
